Love!

Every year, we see thousands of love songs being written, books and movies on love – everyone dreams of having a person to love and what it would feel like. It has essentially been told to us time and again that love is the best feeling in the world and if you’re in love, you’re lucky!

While this is true, this is just the rosy version of things. Love is a beautiful feeling; it brings happiness, contentment, a sense of belonging, a sense of being loved and purposeful.

But for a relationship to last long, it needs more factors than just plain attraction. A relationship has to withstand the tests of time and still stay strong. It takes two people who choose each other, no matter how difficult life gets, to make a relationship successful.

So, what are the things that make a relationship meaningful?

1. A Strong Foundation

A relationship that has a strong foundation usually ends up being long-term. If you take the time to actually get to know an attractive lady and you realize you like her for who she is, then your relationship will turn out to be stronger than what you would have if your relationship is just based on physical attraction. Also, always make sure you get into a relationship for the right reasons. Don’t let loneliness or hurt feelings or rebound be the reason for your relationship. These feelings seldom lead to meaningful relationships.

2. Communication

Communication is the key in any successful relationship. Your partner is the person who is going to be with you throughout your life and it is essential that you are comfortable talking to them about anything. If you are worried that you cannot tell them your dreams because they would disapprove or mock you, then you really need to question your choice.

3. Loyalty

This one is a no-brainer. If you love someone, infidelity and cheating are not a choice. Staying in a relationship is hard and the longer your relationship, the harder it is to stay loyal. In these cases, when you feel you are driven by boredom or other causes, always talk to your partner and re-ignite the spark. Loyalty is important and there should be no compromise on this.

4. Trust

For a relationship to work, you need to trust your partner. Though it is not exactly easy to start trusting a person completely right at the start, you need to work on building and establishing trust as a couple. If your partner is away and you find yourself constantly wondering if they are doing something that you might not like, then it could negatively affect your relationship. If you want to be in a happy relationship, trust your partner and also, keep their trust.

5. Personal Space

This one is crucial. A relationship can be everything, but personal and emotional space is extremely important for an individual’s well being. Make sure that you and your partner spend a little time alone for yourself, doing the things you love. No matter how much you love being with each other 24×7, it is always important that you give your partner some personal space.

A relationship is beautiful, you put your partner’s needs above yours and you know they would do the same for you. Starting a family, building a relationship is one of life’s beautiful experiences and though it may get difficult at times, it will always be worth it in the end.
